LIVERPOOL AGREE DEAL TO SELL SHAQIRI TO LYON

Liverpool attacker Xerdan Shaqiri looks to have already found an escape route from the English Premier League club after they revealed a confirmation that they have officially agreed to sell the player to French Ligue 1 club Olympique Lyon this summer. The Switzerland international forward has long been deemed surplus to requirements at Anfield after falling out of favor with manager Jurgen Klopp and losing a place in the starting XI of the team. He told the club earlier this summer that he had made up his mind already and was ready to look for another club while the transfer window was still on and Lyon were the most serious club that shows interest in signing him.

Lyon opened talks with Liverpool about signing the player but it did not go without a hitch in negotiations. The French club’s opening bid for the player was around £6 million but Liverpool rebuffed the approach and they had to go back and prepare for a bigger offer to present to the Reds. Lyon eventually returned with another bid and it was indeed a bigger offer they brought the second time. The French club increased their offer to £9 million and it matched Liverpool’s demands so a deal was struck between the two clubs for the transfer of the player.
