The Montreal Impact stunned the Seattle Sounders on Saturday with a 1-0 victory at CenturyLink Field.
The Sounders dominated most of the match with nearly 60 percent of the possession and 15 attempts on goal, but one brilliant play from Montreal was enough for the important away victory.
In the 35th minute, Montreal’s Felipe chipped a ball to Davy Arnaud near the top of the box. Arnaud controlled the pass and played a beautiful volley past goalkeeper Michael Gspurning.
The Sounders had chances to equalize in the second half. Brad Evans fired a shot from 25 yards that hit the inside of the right post, while Eddie Johnson’s shot from inside the box hit the crossbar.
The Impact had only two away wins all of last season.
